Did you play in a high school or college marching band? Remember how much fun that was? Have you ever found yourself wishing you could relive those days? Well, dream no longer, my musical friend ...

The Beat Goes On!

The Beat Goes On is an all-adult marching band committed to delighting audiences while creating indelible memories. The band is known for its feel-good attitude, emphasis on audience interaction, and spontaneity on the street and on stage. Though our musical tastes are eclectic, TBGO features a high-energy, brassy, rock and roll style — we may be a marching band, but we're more likely to play Bruno Mars than John Phillip Sousa!

Among its many appearances TBGO has performed in Alaska's largest parade, the nation's oldest Fourth of July parade in Rhode Island, on the floor of the Oregon House of Representatives, in a 25-mile floral parade in the Netherlands, in front of the Alamo, in a cruise ship's main showroom, at an 18th century European castle, atop the Great Wall of China, and all around the Pacific Northwest.

If you are over the age of 18 and play (or used to play) a band instrument ...

WHAT'S NEW

Since 1933, the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant has grown to become one of Australia's most cherished events, celebrated every November. As the Southern Hemisphere's largest public parade, it marks the official welcoming of Father Christmas to Australia, with the man in red greeted by well over 300,000 excited parade-goers. TBGO had the honor of joining this holiday spectacular in 2023. Thanks to Australia 9 for the TV coverage and to Channel 9's Tom Rehn, who joined TBGO on tambourine.

The band is Dancing in the Street at the Gladstone Community Festival! (Thank you to Pamplin Media Group and Raymond Rendleman for posting this video)

Strutting our stuff in the 35th APS Electric Light Parade in Phoenix, our first trip to Arizona! This was the band's first travel event since 2019. Nice to be back in action again!

We got to be part of the 2022 Tree Lighting in Pioneer Courthouse Square. Sure was wet, but boy what a crowd!

TBGO has been down but not out during the pandemic. Check out our virtual band and other videos.

There's nothing cheerier than the sound of jingling bells during the holiday season! Here's our rendition of a holiday classic "jingling all the way". December 2021 was a great month for TBGO and Jingle-Bell Rock; in addition to this video we played it live in two shows in Pioneer Courthouse Square AND as part of KGW's broadcast of the 2021 lighting of Portland's official Christmas tree. Need even more jingles? You can see the KGW performance just below.

The 2021 lighting of Portland's official Christmas tree in Pioneer Courthouse Square was a virtual sing-along affair broadcast on KGW Channel 8. TBGO was delighted to be part of the festivities, hosted by Pink Martini's Thomas Lauderdale. Here's our segment of the broadcast performing Jingle-Bell Rock. Thank you to KGW for uploading the show!

They say if you remember the 60's you weren't there, but WE remember some pretty great tunes from Spy Shows. Here's a mashup of four of our favorites: The Pink Panther; James Bond Theme; Secret Agent Man; and Mission Impossible. If you'd like to buy a drink for the band, we prefer our martinis shaken, not stirred.

The Go-Go's hit #1 with their debut album and are still the only all-female band writing its own material and playing its own instruments to top the Billboard album chart. Here's one of their (and our!) favorites.

Portland's best-traveled adult marching band "boldly goes where no band has gone before".

Did you miss our Portland'5 August 14, 2019 show on Main Street? Catch up with this video replay!

We're home from our July 2019 Alaska tour, including performances in Fairbanks, Anchorage, and aboard the Island Princess. As you can see above, we won Best Marching Band in the Golden Days Parade in Fairbanks. Huzzah!

Halftime Magazine reports on TBGO's first-ever trip to Europe in 2018 for Bloemencorso Bollenstreek, playing day and night parades plus shows at an 18th century castle near Utrecht and along the shore of Switzerland's Lake Lucerne.
